High Quality Swiss Franc Notes
High Quality Swiss Franc Notes, Around 75 entities had previously issued coins in Switzerland prior to 1798. This resulted in 860 different currencies with different denominations, values and monetary systems. Some of these currencies included thalers from Bern and Zurich, Basel, Geneva, or the florin de Fribourg.
1798 The Helvetic Republic created a new currency system, based on the thalers of Berna. It was divided into 10 batzen and 100 rappen. 6 grams, three quarters of pure gold or 1.5 Fr. made up the Swiss franc. The Swiss franc was not issued until 1803, when the Helvetic Republic ended. However, it was used to model the currencies of many Swiss cantons in the newly formed Swiss Confederation.
Although 22 semi-cantons and cantons issued their own currency in the period 1803-1850, less than 15% was produced locally. The rest, which was largely foreign currency, was largely derived from money brought home by mercenaries. Private banks also started issuing the first banknotes. This made the monetary system quite complex. High Quality Swiss Franc Notes, swiss franc notes
Why this note?
In 1848, the new Federal Constitution of Switzerland stated that only the Federal Government was authorized to issue money in the country. The Federal Assembly approved the first monetary federal law on 7 May 1850. This law introduced the Swiss franc as a monetary unit. At the same time as the French franc, the Swiss franc was also introduced to circulation.
The Latin Monetary Unit was created in 1865 by France, Belgium and Italy. It allowed them to set their national currencies on the basis of 4.50 grams silver or 0.2903222.2 grams gold. The Union began to dissolve in the 1920s. Official agreements were ended in 1927. However, the Swiss Franc maintained the same exchange rate up until 1936 when it was subject to a severe devaluation due the Great Depression. After the devaluations in the sterling pound, United States dollars and French francs, the currency fell 30%. 1945 saw the entry of Switzerland into the Bretton Woods Agreements. The exchange rate between the franc and the dollar was 4.30221 CHF/dollar. swiss franc notes
